VOID/ 222

by Jiggy

222 living works. Each one is a small program, born at its mint block, that keeps evolving for as long as it is watched.

Artist statement

A void is not a picture but a line of descent. You own a founder and the rule that breeds it, and what is on screen is whichever generation is alive this second: a body no one has seen before, me included. It fills the whole frame and never stands still.

How it lives

Born at a block. Never finished.

Born at its mint block

Each void begins as the founder Jiggy chose, generation 0, at the block you mint in. The on-chain still is that first frame: 48 cells across in the founder's own sixteen colours, drawn by the contract itself.

Keeps evolving

From that block it breeds under one rule, a new generation every few seconds, forever. Its age is counted on chain. A year-old void is thousands of generations from its founder and can still find its way back.

One in four dreams

The block decides the one thing you cannot choose. Every generation the rule makes six children and keeps one. A Dreamer morphs through the most novel child it refused before settling on the survivor: it keeps visiting what it let go.

Tap Code on the piece above to watch the genome change as it breeds. Open any void to touch it: drag to push a current through it, stir to make it breed faster, hold to keep it still. Save a snapshot or a five-second loop from its page.

Every piece is alive.

The pieces you can see are running, right now, in your browser. Scroll and they wake; scroll past and they rest. Browse the 222 or read the public record: the measured aliveness and traits of every piece.

The house

WEIS

WEIS is an art house: slow, rare, curated. It releases few works and takes its time with each. VOID / 222 is the first.

Testnet now, on Ethereum Sepolia while it is reviewed. The mint opens here, and nowhere else. See the test mint.

The artist

Jiggy

Jiggy is an artist working with code, and the founder of WEIS. VOID began with a kind of piece he loves: code small enough to print right beside the image it makes. Here the code is the creature, and you can watch both.

The works were grown in a live artificial-life lab, where small organisms are born, mutate and compete. 3,222 candidates were grown and measured for aliveness from their rendered frames; 222 were kept. He made VOID together with AI agents he works with daily. They ran the lab and the measurements. He set the direction, the rules and the taste.
